2011 Team Survivor Annual report

2011 National Association of Team Survivor Annual Report

We welcomed new Board Members, Mary Ibbetson, Janice Caldwell and Betty Woito. We also wish thank those who considered serving on the Board in 2011. We extend our gratitude to:
Ronni Blaisdell and Barb Carey for their work on the NATS Board. NATS continues to benefit from the diligent work of our Administrator, Rochelle Marsh, who manages all the details of our non profit organization. Thank you Rochelle – we look forward to working with you in 2012 and beyond!

Our Partnership with XXtra Mile and the Danskin/Trek Women's Triathlon Series continues to be a wonderful opportunity for our membership to participate in meaningful and 'life affirming' experience. The special recognition and accommodations that are extended to Team Survivor participants leads to a successful crossing of the finish line and makes a lifetime impression of saying Yes! to life. In addition, the Pledge Program offered to each Danskin/Trek race participant continues to be a well organized method that directly benefits our membership for funding opportunities.

We are working on streamlining our media and marketing of Team Survivor. Our Facebook page is regularly updated with fitness and exercise information.  The materials on our www.teamsurvivor.org website are being updated and republished on the Affiliate Dashboard. Team Survivor was mentioned in the October, Self Magazine, in the Cancer Resources article.  This generated over 12 contacts to Team Survivor,  ranging from people wanting to volunteer to new affiliate inquiries.

NATS Board revisited and updated our 2008 Strategic Plan. We collected feedback from Affiliates and in December, 2011 held an Annual Meeting to review and plan 2012 Goals. First on our list is the Development of a Social Media Policy and Procedure to promote the use of sharing our stories of the amazing members of Team Survivor and promoting the awareness and visibility of the capabilities of people with cancer.

We are striving to add more tangible benefits to our Affiliates and to achieve this goal, we need to hear your voice.  We continue to research opportunities to partner with other cancer related organizations. We are also exploring the possibility of offering a Team Survivor Leadership Conference.  We want to facilitate more communication among the Affiliates and our members while promoting awareness and visibility of the capabilities of people with cancer.

In closing, it is important to remember that we are a volunteer organization and can only make it better for everyone if we all pitch in and help. For example, we would like to put out a monthly / quarterly newsletter and would love volunteers with a little time and experience in writing articles. If you are interested, or would like more information, please contact Rochelle.
We will also be requesting nominations for NATS Board Members in early Spring.  We will have three positions to fill and we encourage you to consider volunteering for the National Board.
 Please contact Rochelle at: rochelle@teamsurvivor.org

It is an honor to serve Team Survivor while on this cancer journey. Truly the treasures closest to the heart.

Respectfully Submitted,

Diane Groff
